Payroll Manager

Overview is looking for a Payroll Manager to join our Accounting and Finance team. 

Pays employees on a semi-monthly basis through a third-party payroll provider, compiles necessary payroll information to manage payroll preparation, complete external and internal reporting requirements, maintain records related to processing payroll and reconciliations between the Payroll system and the Accounting system. Maintains knowledge of federal, state and local legal payroll requirements. 


 Collects and enters payroll information in the Payroll system so that the third-party payroll provider can calculate pay for both salaried and hourly employees 

  • Pays employees by directing the third-party payroll provided to initiate direct deposits after the approval of the Payroll Preview by the Controller 
  • Monitors and updates when necessary approved employee changes in salary, insurance coverages, exemptions, voluntary deductions and taxes 
  • Updates Payroll system with employee new enrollments and contribution changes from the 401K third-party provider 
  • Reconciles payroll information to amounts drafted from the bank account each pay period 
  • Reconciles the Payroll to the General Ledger payroll accounts and resolves any discrepancies 
  • Compiles, reviews and provides Accounting Operations with reports necessary to record salaries, taxes and deductions to the accounting system each pay period 
  • Reviews all payroll related reports for reasonableness filed by the third-party payroll provider 
  • Maintains knowledge of applicable federal, state and local legal payroll requirements to have the tools necessary to monitor the third-party payroll provider and advise management of any required changes 
  • Responds to payroll inquiries from employees, management and external sources 

Contributes to the Finance Team’s standard of being a top-rate service department


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related field required 
  • 5+ years experience in payroll, accounting or human resources 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word 
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills 
  • Ability to maintain privacy and confidentiality 
  • Experience with ADP Workforce Payroll system required 
  • Experience with NetSuites Accounting system preferred
